Maximize Your Experience
Nicholas Brown and the Roman Revolution is supported by Manifold Scholarship, an open-source publishing platform crafted with users in mind. Manifold is responsive, fast, and intuitive on all digital devices — smartphones, tablets, notebooks, and desktops. Control over fonts, type sizing, and margins makes for a great reading experience. While all content is available to all readers, taking advantage of some of Manifold’s engagement tools, such as forming reading groups, will require creating an account.
To create a new account or sign in to an existing one, click the user icon in the top right corner of the homepage. The system will prompt you for your account’s email and password. If you don’t have an account, click the “Need to sign up?” link, and you can then enter your name, email, and password.
Beside your personal account icon in the top right of the menu, you will see four icons: a notepad, an eye denoting visibility, Aa for appearance, and a spyglass for search:
- The notepad displays a list of all the highlights and annotations you’ve made to a text in one place, allowing you to select them and be taken directly to the section of text in question.
- The eye icon opens the visibility menu and allows you to selectively reveal or hide highlights, annotations, and resources.
- The Aa takes you to a menu of formatting options to adjust how the text shows in the reader. You may enlarge the text, choose serif or sans serif font, invert the color (black on white or white on black text), and increase or decrease the margins.
The spyglass opens a search bar that allows you to search within the text or project for words or passages of interest.
